Tajik Prime Minister Akil Akilov and other Central Asian leaders say they will support U-S efforts to punish terrorists.
But Mr. Akilov told a news conference in the Kazakh city of Almaty his country is not yet prepared to guarantee the United States air space, should Washington decide to launch retaliatory strikes on neighboring Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Akilov says Tajikistan will reach a final decision on any such request only after extended consultations with neighboring Russia, since Russian troops are positioned on the border with Afghanistan.
