India says Taleban authorities are calling on Afghan fighters in Kashmir to return to Afghanistan before a possible U-S military strike.
Citing Indian intelligence information Thursday, Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh said the order to recall the fighters in Kashmir had been issued by Taleban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar.
Indian authorities say about half the separatist militants in strife-torn Indian Kashmir are from Pakistan and Afghanistan. India's government has accused Pakistan of fueling the insurgency in India's only Muslim-majority state, a charge Islamabad denies.
In a speech Wednesday, Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf accused India of using the current international attention on terrorism to harm Pakistan and its interests.
President Musharraf called on India to in his words "lay off."
