Britain says nine al-Qaida camps in Afghanistan have been destroyed. British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon made the announcement during a news conference Tuesday in London.
The camps were suspected of being used for terrorist training.
Reuters news agency reports Mr. Hoon saying bombardments continue to put the ruling Taleban government in Afghanistan under pressure.
He says 24 military garrisons have also been hit hard and forces in the field are currently being attacked.
