An Arab television reporter propelled to fame by the Afghan crisis says he has been traumatized by his flight from Kabul.
In a telephone interview with Al-Jazeera today (Wednesday), the station's Kabul correspondent, Tasir Alouni, said he left his office in the Afghan capital Monday night, only minutes before it was hit by a U-S bomb.
Mr. Alouni said he and his office staff were mugged and beaten by unidentified assailants when they fled the Afghan capital, amid the Taleban retreat. He said they were saved by local tribesmen in Paktia province, near Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.
The T-V reporter says he and his team are now safe, but said he is in a state of what he described as deep psychological shock.
