Information specifically linked to nuclear, chemical and other scientific information has been found in an abandoned building in Kabul apparently used as a terrorist laboratory.
U-S Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge confirmed the discovery today (Thursday), and said the U-S government remains on the highest state of alert against further terrorist attacks.
The Times of London says materials found in the abandoned building include detailed plans for nuclear devices, including documentation on using the explosive T-N-T to trigger a nuclear explosion using plutonium.
U-S authorities have said the al-Qaida terror network headed by Osama bin Laden was trying to acquire nuclear, chemical and biological warfare technology and the materials to make weapons of mass destruction.
But General Tommy Franks, who heads U-S forces engaged in Afghanistan, says that so far there is no evidence to substantiate reports Osama bin Laden succeeded in obtaining lethal materials needed to make the weapons.
