A Taleban fighter has killed himself and two others in a suicide grenade blast near the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif
Witnesses said the three Taleban soldiers were waiting to be searched for weapons after surrendering to Northern Alliance forces. An Alliance military commander, who was not identified, was seriously injured in the incident.
A British television journalist (I-T-N's Andrea Catherwood) and other bystanders received minor shrapnel wounds.
A C-N-N reporter who witnessed the blast said the Taleban fighter who blew himself up was a Pakistani volunteer. The reporter did not say how the bomber's identity was confirmed.
