China has welcomed the creation of an interim, power-sharing government for Afghanistan, and says it will actively develop relations with the new temporary government.
Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said the Afghan conference in Bonn was a good starting point for Afghanistan to move towards peace and stability. The spokeswoman said once the interim Afghan government is in place, China will provide it with any necessary aid.
China, a permanent member of the U-N Security Council, supports the war against terrorism and has backed U-S air strikes against terrorist targets in Afghanistan.
