U-S To Offer Reward For Mullah Omar Capture - 2001-12-14

The United States will offer a reward of 10-million dollars for information leading to the capture of Taleban supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar.

The announcement came Thursday in Washington from U-S Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Mr. Rumsfeld told reporters the United States will also offer reward money for a number of other Taleban officials.

U-S officials say they do not know Mullah Omar's location, although they are looking at sites in the southern Afghan province of Helmand, west of Kandahar. Mullah Omar has not been seen since Kandahar -- the Taleban's spiritual home -- fell to anti-Taleban forces 10 days ago.
