Afghanistan's new interim leader, Hamid Karzai, says there will be no hiding place for the former Taleban regime and that Osama bin Laden will be brought to justice if caught.
Mr. Karzai told reporters in Rome today (Wednesday) he does not know where Osama bin Laden or Taleban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar are. He said there is no way his interim government will allow them to stay in the new Afghanistan.
The new leader also said he supports an international peacekeeping force that would be authorized to use force if necessary to keep the peace.
Hamid Karzai will take the oath of office in Kabul on Saturday as head of the new six-month interim Afghan government.
Mr. Karzai met with Afghanistan's former king Mohammed Zahir Shah in Rome Tuesday to talk about the country's immediate future.
Mr. Karzai said his first priority is to make sure peace and security become permanent in Afghanistan.
