Britain says it will officially resume diplomatic ties with Afghanistan Saturday -- the day the new interim government takes power.
British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said the shuttered British embassy in Kabul will reopen for the first time in 12 years.
Mr. Straw says a yet-to-be-named charges d'affaires will head the embassy.
Britain abandoned its Afghan embassy in 1989 during the chaos that followed the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan.
