Authorities in Pakistan's North West Frontier province have withdrawn a detention order for a Muslim cleric who led several pro-Taleban rallies in the early days of the U-S-led war in Afghanistan.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman was released Sunday after spending five months in a state-run guest house. No reason was given for his release.
Authorities ordered him held in October to prevent him from speaking out against Pakistani support for the military campaign against the Taleban.
