U-N refugee officials in Afghanistan say they will suspend operations at a crossing on the Iranian border for two days after an Iranian guard fired his weapon near aid workers.
A U-N spokeswoman (Maki Shinohara) told reporters in Kabul the border guard fired into the air Sunday while chasing around 40 unidentified civilians. Nobody was injured in the incident. It is not clear what happened to the civilians.
The spokeswoman says U-N officials have requested a meeting with authorities in Tehran to discuss the incident.
