The U-N World Food Program has appealed today (Tuesday) for urgent aid for one-million people facing famine in Tajikistan.
The program's representative in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, said international humanitarian aid has focused on neighboring Afghanistan and that Tajikistan has received far less support, following a two-year regional drought.
The director said he hoped the international donor community will increase its commitment to help the hungry poor in Tajikistan.
