Taleban Allow UN Offices in Kabul to Re-establish Radio Contact - 2001-11-02

The United Nations says Afghanistan's ruling Taleban has allowed the U-N offices in the capital Kabul to re-establish radio contact outside the country.

U-N spokeswoman Stephanie Bunker told reporters in Islamabad Taleban officials will monitor all communications. Ms. Bunker also said the U-N will broadcast six days a week, for a total of eight hours a day.

The Taleban cut off U-N communication facilities in Afghanistan after the United States began its bombing campaign on October seventh.
