Czech defense officials have announced plans to close a Czech military field hospital currently deployed in Afghanistan as part of the U-S-led war on terrorism.
A Defense Ministry spokesman said most of the soldiers in support of the hospital are due to return home by the end of the year. Some 20 doctors at the hospital will remain in Afghanistan.
The spokesman said Prague cannot afford to continue its Afghan operations indefinitely.
