Russia is sending senior government officials to Afghanistan today (Friday) to establish working contact with potential new leadership of the war-torn country.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Friday the delegation includes representatives from the foreign, defense and emergency ministries.
Russia did not say where or with whom it's officials are to meet.
Russia supports the U-S led fight against terrorism and the U-N plan for a broad-based interim government in Afghanistan.
