The German government has approved extending for another six months the deployment of some 11-hundred German troops serving with the international security force in Afghanistan.
The decision still needs the approval of parliament. It follows last month's vote by the United Nations Security Council extending the mandate of the 45-hundred strong international force until December. The initial six-month mission of the force ends June 20th.
Britain currently heads the force, but is expected to transfer command to Turkey later this month.
